The FURminator SHED-LESS Treatment
The shedless treatment also known as the FURminator SHED-LESS Treatment relieves your dog and/or cat of their heavy coat for 4-6 weeks. In a 4-step process, the FURminator SHED-LESS treatment penetrates several layers of dead and loose hair that can cause allergens. The process removes your pet’s undercoat and reveals a cleaner and healthier-looking coat.
Sidenote, if you are a cat owner, expect the regular benefits of your pet feeling lighter and having shinier fur, plus an additional benefit of a reduction in the number of hairballs.
FURminator SHED-LESS 4-Step Process for Dogs and Cats:
Before starting we check your pet for matting or tangling. We use specific brushes and tools made for the FURminator SHED-LESS Treatment. When brushing we use the FURminator dual brush to free topcoat hair and smooth the coat.
Step 1: Wash
Like most spa treatments it begins with a good bath. We begin by bathing your cat or dog, using a generous amount of premium shampoo that is free of chemical dyes and parabens. The deshedding shampoo contains a blend of aloe vera, vitamin E, wheat products, Omega fatty acids, and vitamin B5 to remove the undercoat hair. Undercoat hair is what pet owners tend to find covering their house floors. We give your pet a circulatory massage bath while working in the formula. This shampoo works for pets with sensitive skin. By massaging shampoo into the coat we provide your pet with some muscle relief, while improving circulation to their coat, and loosening up dead hair where most of the shedding comes from. After a few minutes of letting the shampoo set, we rinse the shampoo out.
Step 2: Condition
The FURminator deshedding conditioner or solution is generously applied to your pet’s coat. This solution is made to loosen the undercoat. There are no harsh chemicals in this conditioner and no harsh tools are used. We continue to massage the solution into the entire coat down to the skin. We lift even more free hair to get it out of your pet’s coat. We give your pet a massage, let the premium conditioner lather up for a few minutes, and then rinse completely. This conditioner your pet will make your pet smell delightful for longer than most wash and spa treatments.
Step 3: Drying
The majority of the undercoat is now under control from the shampooing, conditioning and combing. With a force dryer, we remove loose hair to polish the look and give your dog or cat a clean and professional look. Then we brush and comb your pet to get rid of as much dander, and excess coat remnants. We make sure the coat is completely dry with a high-velocity dryer before moving on.
Step 4: Deshedding and bringing out your pet’s beautiful coat
In the final and fourth step, we use the FURminator deshedding tool to get rid of dead undercoats, and loose and excess hair that is remaining. We get rid of lacklustre fur, leaving your cat or dog’s topcoat shiny and healthy-looking. A large amount of fur that is clinging on makes its way out in this step. The amount of shedding here can even make your pet a little lighter on the scale. The mass amount of shedding here is normal. Deshedding can be used for all pet sizes with various hair lengths, including short-and long-haired breeds. We use a deshedder made for your pet’s body size and hair length. With short and soft strokes we access the fur right under your pet’s topcoat to remove all the stubborn shedding.
The FURminator SHED-LESS Treatment is a great way to solve a common and natural problem, shedding. This four-step program will help your pet shed less and keep this cycle to a minimum. You will notice a big improvement in the amount of shedding from your pets if you regularly follow-up with appointments. The first treatment will bring out heaps of excess hair, and in the next consecutive treatment, you will notice less shedding and hair trapped in the undercoat. When you brush your dog or cat’s fur at home, you’ll notice less hair collecting on your dog or cat brush. You’ll also likely notice your pet is more comfortable in their fur as they’ll be scratching less trying to do their deep brushing and leaving a trail of fur everywhere in your home.
